At Mannys, we believe in the transformative power of eyeglasses and vision care. We make sure everyone, from individuals to businesses, can enjoy clear vision and style without breaking the bank. We empower our clients to thrive in their daily lives by offering affordable eyeglasses, vision screenings, and training.
We’re especially reaching out to low-income communities and those who may not have had access to eyecare before, helping them see the world in a whole new light, one pair of glasses at a time. By helping them see clearly, we unlock their full potential and contribute to their overall well-being and success.
How are we doing it?

Our belief is simple: better vision means a better life. By providing access to vision care, we’re not only improving people’s ability to see clearly but also enhancing their capacity to work efficiently, function effectively, and earn a living. We see this as a crucial step towards reducing poverty in Africa and beyond, impacting informal, educational, corporate, and overall livelihoods.
Guided by this principle, the Mannys team is driven by passion, channeling all our efforts towards advancing social impact across several key sectors:
- Vision To Earn: Supporting adults in informal sectors such as Jua Kali artisans, Matatu and Long Distance Drivers, as well as other relevant sectors, to enhance their earning potential.
- Vision To Learn: Assisting school-going children so they can learn better and excel academically.
- Vision To Be Safe: Ensuring the safety of workers in various industries, such as transport, construction, manufacturing, and agriculture, by providing both training and eyewear solutions.
- Vision To Feel Good: Helping everyone feel confident and empowered to face the world, whether at work or play. This includes providing protective gear for sporting and outdoor activities that captures both style and safety, ensuring that everyone can enjoy their work and leisure time with clear vision and peace of mind.

SDG 1: No Poverty
At Mannys Eyewear, we understand that clear vision is essential for economic empowerment. By providing affordable eyeglasses, we contribute to income generation and extend individual productivity.
This aligns with SDG 1.2, aiming to reduce poverty for people of all ages. We are working to eradicate extreme poverty with job opportunities and microfinance through collection and recycling efforts 1.1, 1.4
SDG 3: Good Health and Well-being
Mannys Eyewear supports local communities’ health through extending basic eye care to underserved areas and communities.
This not only promotes universal health coverage (SDG 3.8) but also addresses targets for health workforce training and retention in developing countries (SDG 3.C). Moreover, correcting vision for drivers helps reduce road traffic accidents (SDG 3.6).
SDG 4: Quality Education
Eyeglasses play a crucial role in boosting education outcomes, especially for children with myopia. By improving math and reading scores and reducing dropout rates, eyeglasses contribute to SDG 4.1, ensuring completion of primary and secondary education.
Additionally, they help eliminate education disparities and ensure equal access for students with vision impairment (SDG 4.5).
SDG 5: Gender Equality
Women and girls are disproportionately affected by myopia. By providing eyeglasses, Manny’s Eyewear promotes gender equality by removing barriers to economic opportunities and technology usage (SDG 5.A and 5.B).
Clear vision enhances social and economic decision-making, contributing to overall gender empowerment.
SDG 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth
Eyeglasses are essential for economic productivity and growth. Research shows that they lead to the largest increase in productivity among health interventions.
They also help maintain employment, prevent occupational injuries, and facilitate financial inclusion through mobile phone and device usage(SDG 8.2, 8.8, and 8.10). We are creating job opportunities and growth of micro and small enterprise through micro-offset methodology MOM SDG 8.2, 8.3, 8.4, 8.8, 8.9
SDG 13: Climate Action
We are actively working to reduce and remove total greenhouse gas emissions to limit global warming SDG 13.2
Evidence of Impact
Mannys conducts assessments and studies to build the evidence base that underpins our theory of change. Our goal is for low income people to utilize eyeglasses as a means to improve their daily functioning, productivity and income earning potential.
